Climate

The climate in New Zealand is temperate with relatively mild, wet winters and warm and dry summers

Accommodation

Multiple accommodation options are available to students that include on campus stay, home stay with a local family or off campus accommodation in a rented flat usually shared by friends or acquaintances. Halls of Residence are generally located a short walk from campus where the rooms are single or twin-share, with communal laundry, lounge room and dining hall. Meals are usually provided, and all dietary needs can be catered for. Rental accommodation is generally clustered around colleges and universities, but flats can be found in most city suburbs.

Like any other country including India, the cost of living in metro cities is higher as compared to the regional areas of New Zealand. For example the cost of living in Auckland will be higher than that in Hamilton. The average costs of living in New Zealand would range between $ 15000- $ 20000

Transport

Public transport in New Zealand is safe, cheap and reliable. All the major cities offer public bus transport. Taxis are affordable and safe options with most drivers belonging to the New Zealand Taxi Federation.

The train network in Auckland and Wellington are comfortable and enjoyable. Ferries are also an important mode of transport between the north and the south island. Public ferries are available between several Auckland suburbs to most of the islands of New Zealand.

Visas

The application process and the turnaround times will vary from one institution to the other. The Universities and ITP’S (institute of technology and polytechnics) have an average turnaround time for an offer letter that is anything between 6-10 weeks. The private institutions will have a faster turnaround time. Hence it is advised to apply early.
